Behind Every Successful Business Owner

Stands a Mentor

Women have discovered that mentoring brings great and unexpected rewards – for both mentors and their protégées. Susan presents the how’s and why’s of mentoring, the many different types of mentoring programs and methods, the benefits women have reaped, and how to find a mentor.  She also provides practical how to’s and tips on creating a mutually-beneficial mentoring relationship.

An award-winning communications specialist, Susan Baka – President of Bay Communications & Marketing Inc. – is an authority on entrepreneurship, mentoring and small business. She works with financial institutions, governments and organizations on their entrepreneurship strategies and is a prolific writer and speaker who has launched many communication vehicles to help business owners, particularly women entrepreneurs, grow.

Passionate about global trade and an advocate for exporters, Susan was appointed a member of the Canadian Minister of International Trade’s Small and Medium Enterprise Advisory Board from 2008 to 2011. Her company is one of the first in Canada to be certified by WBE Canada, which helps women-owned businesses tap into global supply chains.  Susan is a founder and VP, Communications, of the first Canadian chapter of the Organization of Women in International Trade (OWIT-Toronto), also sits on the International Board, and, for many years, was on the board of the Step Ahead Mentoring Program.  She helps spearhead the launch of mentoring programs for companies and organizations and is now part of the Henry Bernick Entrepreneurship Centre’s network of mentors, based out of the Collingwood campus of Georgian College.

Looking forward to seeing you there!
